Como mexicano conocedor de muchos sitios arqueológicos del país, puedo decir que éste es uno de los más impresionantes. El guía Giovanni está perfectamente capacitado y certificado, y además es carismático, sencillo y agradable; se disfruta su compañía y enriquece la experiencia con sus conocimientos históricos, arqueológicos, y de la flora y fauna local. Durante el camino a Calakmul pudimos avistar un venado cola blanca, tucanes, monos sarahuatos, monos araña, zorros, pavorreales, una tarántula en su madriguera, ¡y hasta un cocodrilo de pantano, aunque sólo por algunos segundos! ¡Recomendable!

Experiencia fantástica: An amazing guide who really knows his stuff about nature and the Mayan history. Clearly very experienced and has great knowledge of all the Mayan sites in the region. Great for finding the Calakmul biosphere wildlife and explaining the ruins at Calakmul and Balamku. We saw tapir, toucans and lots of monkeys. Enthusiastic and friendly, can’t recommend Jhovanny highly enough.

We were also able to get a ride to Escárcega to make our train in the afternoon. Experiencia fantástica: Reservé con Jhovanni de Calakmul Selva y Toura y fue increíble. No solo tiene un conocimiento profundo de la zona y de la historia de la ciudad maya de Calakmul, sino también de toda la flora y fauna que habita la reserva. Además, parece conocer a todo el mundo por allí, lo que hace la experiencia aún más cercana y auténtica. Madrugar valió totalmente la pena: pudimos ver monos aulladores, tucanes y venados en libertad. Una conexión real con la naturaleza. Jhovanni nos ofreció agua, snacks y explicaciones claras y apasionadas durante todo el recorrido. Se nota que ama lo que hace. Recomiendo llevar calzado cómodo, buen repelente y binoculares si te gusta observar animales. Si buscas algo más que una simple visita turística, este tour es la mejor opción para descubrir Calakmul de verdad.

Je recommande ce guide tant pour ce qui est de la visite archéologique du site de Calakmul, que pour la marche dans la jungle, et ses services d'organisation de transport dans la région. J'ai payé tout par virement pour éviter d'avoir à retirer trop d'argent au distributeur, et les prix étaient honnêtes et transparents de bout en bout.

Experiencia fantástica: Giovanni collected us from our hotel and drove us to the Calakmul ruins. We stopped part way for a 40 minute jungle walk which was great fun for spotting spider monkeys and some howler monkeys. Giovanni is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as bird and insect life of the jungle. At the ruins, he clearly explained the layout of the Calakmul site and was happy to tell us about all the different aspects of the carvings and glyphs on the ruins. He made our day fun and informative and we highly recommend him as a guide to Calakmul and the other surrounding ruins.

Experiencia fantástica: Me and my partner have done the tour with Giovanni and he’s an amazing guide and funny person! Tour started at 6:30am and he was very punctual! We have stopped on the way and he treated us with coffee and sandwiches for the road! It’s a long and busy day! Totally worth it! He explained to us about flora and fauna, about the pyramid,food culture etc. So impressive to see tarantulas, monkeys and insects on the way to the ruins. One you are there , he explains about ruins and waits for you while you climb on top! You can’t put into words the feeling while you up there and look over the jungle! He also took pictures and videos of us which we really appreciate! Definitely recommend him as he’s a reliable person!

Experiencia fantástica: Fijne gids! Giovanny heeft ons rondgeleid door Calakmul en Balamkú. Balamkú zat eigenlijk niet in onze afspraak, maar Giovanny vond het geen probleem hier nog heen te gaan. Ook zijn we naar de vleermuisgrot geweest. Hier kwamen we precies op tijd aan om het spektakel te zien. Calakmul is prima op eigen gelegenheid te bezoeken, maar wij waren blij met de uitleg van Giovanny over de Maya’s en de tempels. Ook waren we zonder hem niet naar Balamkú geweest, waar je nog een prachtige Maya tempel van binnen kan zien.

Experiencia fantástica: Our tour with Jhovani to Calakmul was absolutely fantastic! He picked us up in Bacalar. Our first stop was a walk in a jungle. Yobani took us around showing different flora and fauna. It depends a lot on luck what animals and birds you will see, of course, but Yobani made everything that's possible for us to enjoy the walk and experience the jungle world. He is very knowledgeable and knows how to spot animals and birds. He even showed us a bat that was hiding in a termite house. Yobani is also an excellent guide and will tell you a lot of interesting information and facts about the Mayas and their life in Calakmul. You can rely on Yobani to provide excellent service and a fun, memorable trip in the jungle.

Experiencia negativa: très déçue de cette excursion. j'ai choisi cette agence car il n'y avait que de bons avis. Malgré que les prix soient très chers (1900 pesos par personne), j'avais cru comprendre que ça en valait le coup, mais ce n'est pas le cas. Le matin, le chauffeur arrive en retard. Il finit par arriver, pas accueillant, n'explique rien, le guide n'est pas là, on va juste dans le fond de la voiture sans savoir ce qui va se passer pour nous. On comprend qu'on va chercher d'autres personnes (on devait être 2, on a fini à 5), mais c'est pas tant un problème. Sur la route, on prend du retard car on doit attendre une personne qui doit se rajouter au groupe. De plus, notre guide est malade (il n'y peut rien) mais on a aucune explication pendant le trajet, jusqu'à arriver à l'entrée du site où on a finalement un guide. Les explications étaient bien, avec un bon anglais, mais sans plus. Le repas est un simple bout de pain avec jambon et fromage, on reste sur notre faim. Tout le long de la visite, on doit se dépêcher car on a pas le temps, on est arrivés trop en retard, et le site ferme à 13h, donc on a pas le temps de faire la grande visite mais seulement une infime partie, où chaque temps est chronométré. En +, le prix n'est pas égale, un du groupe a payé 600 pesos pour la même chose que nous (car il était mexicain) mais nous c'est quand même 1900 pesos, la différence est énorme ! Je suis vraiment déçue et dégoûtée d'avoir dépensé autant d'argent pour une excursion qui me faisait rêver, mais qui est loin d'être un incontournable et d'en valoir le coup.

Experiencia fantástica: Gio helped us so much! Our initial guide ghosted us, so we contacted Calakmul y Selva Tours last minute and Gio was able to arrange a tour to Calakmul. He was very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. It was very clear he cares a lot about the ruins and the forest. We saw howler and spider monkeys, woodpeckers, and some other rare birds! As of 2023, the ruins are pretty remote!it would have been cumbersome to get to Calakmul on our own without a car, so grateful that we were able to connect with Gio.

Jhovanny gave us a full day tour in the jungle, around Calakmul and the bat cave and it was truly one of the highlights of our entire visit to Mexico. He is a very enthusiastic and social guide with a real genuine love for nature and speaks excellent English. Even when we had troubles getting cash from the atm (since they were all out of money in Xpujil), Jhovanny came back and we could pay with our creditcard. It was truly worth every peso and I can't recommend him enough!!!

He is a professional guide, charismatic and enthusiast, who made our day very interesting and pleasent. The tour lasts about 10 hours and includes a tracking in the jungle, a quick lunch, visit to the Calakmul Mayan Ruins, and finally la Cueva de los Mercielagos. Depending on your luck, you have the chance to see different species of wilde animals and plants. We encountered monkeys, turkeys, eagles, colibrí, insects and more. The tour is not cheap, but definitely worth every pesos. Super recommended!!

He explained each temple well & told us about things we would have definitely missed if we’d done it alone! Experiencia positiva: Ich bin hin und her gerissen. Jho ist wie in anderen Rezensionen beschrieben tatsächlich ein super Typ und weiß durchaus viel. Allerdings muss ich auch sagen, dass ich mir in Anbetracht der gezahlten 80 € insgesamt schon etwas mehr erhofft hatte, insbesondere mehr Informationen zu den Ruinen, historischen/kulturellen Rahmen etc. (hier hätte man z.B. die langen Autofahrten mehr zu nutzen können) und nicht nur auf Nachfrage, wo sich zeigte, dass er viel wusste und viel interessantes zu erzählen gehabt hätte. Auch ist sein English gut, aber bei wirklich spezifischen Fragen gab es doch immer wieder Missverständnisse. Auf Spanisch sicherlich ein Premium-Guide, aber ich kann selbst leider "nur" 4 Sterne vergeben aus o.g. Gründen. Sights allesamt sehr nice.

Il parle très bien anglais et nous a trouvé beaucoup d’animaux lors du trek dans la jungle et sur la route au sein de la réserve ( 2 sortes de singes, des crocodiles, des faisans, des toucans, des coaties, une tarentule…). Experiencia fantástica: Nous avons passé une superbe journée à la découverte des ruines de Calakmul, de la jungle et nous avons terminé par l'envol des chauves-souris. Jesus à l'Office a été de bons conseils et toujours disponible pour nous répondre. Nous avons eu le plaisir d'avoir Giovanni en guide il a le sourire et un grand enthousiasme communicatif et très pédagogue. Il a su nous captivé toute la journée entre explications de la faune, flore, histoire, maya.. L'agence nous a été conseillée par notre hôtel Chaac calakmul et l'on ne regrette pas de les avoir écouté ! On vous recommande Jesus et Giovanni tout deux parlent anglais réel bonus quand on ne maîtrise pas l'espagnol

Experiencia fantástica: Giovanni was een heel aangename gids die ons een onvergetelijke dag heeft bezorgd in de Calakmul jungle en de maya site. Hij viel last minute (de ochtend zelf van het vertrek) in omdat onze gids uit Bacalar ziek was gevallen. 's ochtends om 8 uur werden we opgepikt met zijn taxi in Xpujil. Hij heeft ons dan twaalf uur lang begeleid startend met de maya site bij Balam-Kú met het prachtige originele fresco gevolgd door en het lekkere ontbijt bij kenissen van hem in het nabijgelegen restaurantje. Vervolgens een mooie rit door de jungle met arenden en pauwen, een wandelsafari met krokodillen en maya bijen, de prachtige grote tempels met het 360° vergezicht over de jungle. Dan een heuse natuurdocumentaire met brullende 'howler monkeys', en dan spider monkeys, een reusachtige arend die baby-aapjes probeerde vangen, de 'racoon' die overwandelde tot en met de tarantula die we uit zijn holletje kregen. Een gezellige terugrit met Mexicaanse pop die door Giovanni werd meegezongen, een authentiek en goedkoop diner bij ons ontbijt-restaurantje. En als afsluiter een perfect getimed bezoek aan de vleermuis-grot (na 5 minuten wachten begon het spektakel) met 3 miljoen vleermuizen die als een tornado rondzwermen. 's avonds moe en zeer tevreden afgezet aan ons hotelletje, die vergeten we niet meer. Niet twijfelen, doen!

Experiencia fantástica: Vandaag een super leuke dag gehad in Calakmul en de jungle! Giovanni weet veel over de omgeving en het Maya dorpje te vertellen, hij is een heel enthousiaste, grappige guide. We hebben veel gelachen en veel bij geleerd! Al met al, top ervaring.

Experiencia fantástica: Eergisteren een leuke dag gehad met gids Giovanni! De tempels van Calakmul zijn sowieso erg mooi en Giovanni vindt het leuk om er van alles bij de vertellen! Toen wij de tempels beklommen, bleef hij beneden en zong hij liedjes. De bat cave in de avond was zeker een toevoeging en erg bijzonder!

Experiencia fantástica: Giovanni war unser persönlicher Guide. Er hat uns am Hotel in Xpujil abgeholt und nach Calakmul gebracht. Dort sind wir in den Dschungel Giovanni hat uns auf alles aufmerksam gemacht was es zu sehen und zu hören gab ...Es war so interessant. Alleine hätten wir die Affen in den Baumwipfel n sicher übersehen. Auch bei den Mayatempeln hat er uns vieles erklärt. Der krönende Abschluss: die Fledermäuse Kurz vor Sonnenuntergang. Alles in allem ein toller Tag.
