We had great meals, walked all over town, got massages, shopped, took a fantastic cooking class, toured the marketplaces and art vendors, even got a great haircut while I was there. But, the highlight of our trip was the ATV tour with ATV Extreme Tours. The tour takes you to parts of town and the nearby countryside and around the lake - parts of the area most people would not be able to otherwise easily enjoy. We saw beautiful homes, ranches with beautiful horses, a goat herder, a single man fishing with a net on the lake. But, the most fascinating thing was the original mission for San Jose. It's down some dusty backroads and we were the only ones at the site when we arrived. Booking was simple and the host and tour guide were great. If you want to see parts of San Miguel you might not otherwise be able to enjoy, trust me, take a tour with the folks at ATV Extreme Tours.

I took my son, one of his friends, and a close friend of ours on the two-hour tour, and it was everything we hoped for and more. We’ve lived in San Miguel for two years now, and it’s hard to believe that such beautiful, open landscapes are just outside the city. The scenery was breathtaking—wide-open farmlands, flowing water, and animals grazing peacefully. It was like seeing a whole new side of the area we thought we already knew. The tour also took us to the oldest church in the region, which was a powerful and peaceful stop. It added a rich historical layer to the day that we didn’t expect but really appreciated. The weather was perfect, which helped make the ride even more enjoyable. The ATVs themselves were in excellent condition—smooth to ride and clearly well maintained. The whole setup felt very safe and professional. Speaking of professionalism, the staff were fantastic. Friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They made everyone feel comfortable, from the kids to the adults, and guided us through every part of the experience with care. If you’re in San Miguel—whether you’re visiting or live here—I highly recommend this tour. It’s a great way to connect with nature, history, and adventure all at once. We’ll absolutely be going back.

Experiencia fantástica: During my 3 night visit to San Miguel de Allende, what was the most fun was driving on this gorgeous ATV. If I wasn’t grinning, I was laughing out loud during the entire ride. Because I had to park my car in a parking garage during my visit, I had been limited to walking around Zona Centro near my hotel. My excellent guide Cesar led me through some beautiful parts of San Miguel and also through several of the Paroquias I recognized from the Locos Parade. I highly recommend taking this tour. FYI I am in my 70s with mobility problems and had no problem following Cesar, he and ATV Extreme Tours were very safety conscious, I received great instructions about safe driving before we drove off. Experiencia fantástica: Our tour with ATV Extreme Tours was the highlight of our week in San Miguel. We booked the trip on a whim after seeing so many ATV's on the streets of San Miguel, and thought it would be fun way to roam the city. But we didn't realize that the two hour tour would take us through farmland, neighboring towns each with unique and beautiful character - and then we were really surprised to arrive at old churches in the middle of the countryside. We also ended up in the middle of cattle and goat herds, and passing horses along rivers. Such a unique way to experience the outskirts of San Miguel. Our tour guide Cesar was fantastic. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Experiencia fantástica: I'm glad we chose this tour company. Because their ATV's were new, we saw other tour groups on the road and their ATV's were older and smaller. The suspension was fun but comfortable. We did the 2 hour tour to Old San Miguel and we had a lot of driving fun! 2 hrs is the prefect time. We drove through some creeks and a small mud area, it was so much fun and we didn't had to get dirty or muddy, we just raised our feet. We went through beatiful rural areas, next to cows, sheep, horses and very nice people working the corn fields. The 2 guides were excellent, they sanitized the ATV's before boarding and always made sure we were safe and had tons of fun. You get a helmet, goggles and a bandana. They took a lot of pictures and we got them by email, that was fantastic.

Experiencia negativa: We booked with 5 friends the aguas calientes tour. Prior to the booking I did express over the phone that we expect a lot of driving fun. What we got was 30 min of driving fun, 3 hour in a spa an 15 min return on an asphalt road. The entrance the spa was around 200 mxn We paid 6000 mxn, for 30 min driving and 3 hours of spa. I did such a tour before in San Miguel with another company and received driving fun for the time booked. In general a quad tour in San Miguel is great, but not with ATV extreme tours
