Experiencia fantástica: I was the lucky human to be the only person on the Cenotes Tour from Valladolid with Lunch because it is low season. Nefi is a historian, an amazing teacher and human being. He took me to the cenotes where we were the only people present. At Palomitas, I asked if we could turn off the lights so I could see the cenote in its natural lighting. It was incredible! The bats were super happy about the lights being off for a little bit. If you are looking for a guide of the region, this is the #1 choice. Make Your Own Tour is locally owned and operated by Nefi and this was one of the best experiences. He helped me find local honey and we stopped by the market in Valladolid at the end of the visit. It was a very blessed day for me to spend with Nefi and learn about the gorgeous land, people, and language.

Experiencia fantástica: We had Gabriel as our guide and driver for the day. He showed up promptly at our pickup time. We had great conversations with him during the long trips. We were almost the first people in line to see Chichen Itza and it was still the cool of the morning. Had almost the place to ourselves. Same with the Cenote… booking this tour had us at all the locations early and both places to ourselves. Also had us try an off the beaten path restaurant that was delicious. I would suggest anyone thinking about visiting Chichen Itza to book with this operator and book to be picked up first thing in the morning, 6am… etc…. Will not be disappointed!

Experiencia fantástica: Gabrel was our tour guide and the whole time was fantastic with him. We did a tour of Chichen Itza where he passionately taught us about the history and reasoning behind the architecture. He guided us perfectly so that we were the first ones to get a picture in front of the main temple with no other visitors around. Then we went to the Ik Kil cenote and had a wonderful time swimming by ourselves. Lastly, he took us off the beaten path to a local eatery and we were invited to the kitchen to see them making homemade tortillas. It was the best food we had during our whole trip to Cancun. Gabrel has a great sense of humor and is excited about the area's history. It was a great day!

Experiencia fantástica: Nefi and his team were excellent. We don’t use Instagram, nor Facebook. We researched a tour company by simple internet exposure. We looked to hire Nefi for a 2 day private tour (two people) visiting sites in around Valladolid. Most importantly, Nefi was on time with a lovely clean van and plenty of bottled water. We gave him artistic license to arrange a tour built on his local knowledge of Mayan ruins (e.g. Chichen Itza and Ek Balam) and cenotes. He made two perfect days and also found lovely local restaurants to eat in. We were so reassured by Nefi that we asked him for transfers to Isla Holbox, and thereafter, back to Cancun airport. Again, Nefi and his team were on time and got us to our destination in a timely manner with a no stress. Experiencia fantástica: We did two full day tours around Valladolid with Nefi to cover Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, Cenote Ik Kil and Ria Lagartos and had a wonderful time. If you want to do private tours or need flexibility, Make Your Own Tour is the perfect option. Highly recommend for families! Nefi was professional, flexible and patient with our group of 6 (with 2 kids), and also very friendly - we enjoyed our conversations in the car as much as the visiting the sights! He was able to work with our timing, and adjusted the itinerary as requested along the way. He carefully watched over our boys as they climbed up Ek Balam - which is very very steep and not the safest/easiest of climbs - he helped us all stay safe and enjoy our experience. Would have loved to hire him for our entire trip, but it was peak season and he was booked out. Recommend reaching out early to make reservations!

Experiencia fantástica: We (family of 5) had a wonderful tour to Chichen Itza. Nefi showed up right on time and made our ride from the hotel enjoyable and educational. We got to the site early per his recommendation which worked out extremely well as it was not too hot and not too crowded. He was very knowledgeable and very good at handling all my kids off the wall questions. He provided close to 2 hours of guided tour and then let us explore on our own. We then went to a cenote to cool off and take in that experience and ended with a delicious lunch in a small, "off the beaten path" town, before heading back to our hotel. Pretty much a perfect day. If our travels ever find us back in these parts, we will definitely take another tour from Nefi to see some more cool stuff.

Experiencia fantástica: I came to Mexico on a trip with some co-workers and we booked with Nefi and Gabriel to get away from the resort for a full day. We were excited to visit some of the Mayan ruins in Yucatán learn a bit more about the local culture. Nefi was able to go much further than that and made our day out into an educational and enriching experience with local culture. In addition to visiting Chichén-Itzá and Ek Balam, we were able sample some delicious Yucatán food and visit multiple cenotes, including one right hidden right in the middle of a small town square. You would think it would be hard to squeeze all of this into a single day, but Nefi and Gabriel did so expertly. Next time I'm in the area they'll be the first people I call.

This was our first time to Cancun and to Chichen Itza we weren’t really sure what to expect, we were amazed! Mischell was our tour guide. He was fabulous! Very knowledgeable, professional, and funny! I highly recommend using MYOT, if Nefi is not available ask if Mischell is available for the tour. We will definitely use MYOT again.

He was extremely responsive to email and texts. He has a deep passion and family roots tied to the area, so the content of the info he passes on is extremely interesting. Our first trip he took us to Coba and Gran Cenote which was incredible! Our most recent trip was to El Balam and another amazing cenote. It was unreal! My wife and I wanted to do the sunrise tour for our honeymoon but because of COVID that was no longer offered so Nefi worked with us to design a complete itinerary at a steep discount. We got to go to Chichen Itza in the morning right at open to avoid the line and sun, and then he took us to a private Cenote that he goes to with his family every now and then. We finally ended the day with a private tour of a mayan honey farm and had a real authentic Mayan lunch (better than the all inclusive resorts). If you happen to be in the Yucatan and are looking for a tour DEFINITELY book with Nefi and Make Your Own Tour. We definitely will again.

Experiencia fantástica: We had 2 private tours in Cancun with Nefi in June 2021. The first one we went to see Kaan Luum lagoon, then the ruins of Tulum, followed by snorkeling with turtles and sting rays along the coast. It was an unbelievable and relaxing experience. Nefi was on time picking all 12 of us from our hotel with a private car, and was very knowledgeable about the history of the ruins. He was friendly, and we all felt comfortable with him throughout the tour. He knew all the other guides around him. The next day, a smaller group headed for Chichen Itza. He got us there right at opening time, and we had all the time in the world to take pictures. Again, he was super knowledgeable about the history. Then we met the lady handmaking tortillas. She was the most adorable cheery lady. Lunch there was delicious. But the best part was the cenote Nefi took us to. We had it to ourselves probably for 45 min. Finally we were back by 4pm. I would definitely use Make your Own Tour again if the opportunity arises. Book with him and you won’t regret it !

Nefi is very professional and super knowledgeable when it comes to presenting the history/beauty of Mexico. Experiencia positiva: This is the GPS location for Airbnb hosted by Nefi, called Nephi's Dream. Modern style 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, washer and full sized fridge. Decent area, except dogs barking all night long and neighbor plays loud music at 6am (both things the host really can't control and it's not responsible for). Nefi had great communication, answered our questions and concerns quickly and friendly host, a pleasure to rent from him.

We were able to enjoy the site in the cool morning hours when few others were present. Nefi took great care of us. Experiencia fantástica: I really could not recommend Nefi and his tour company enough. I knew that going 2 hours from our Cancun resort was going to be a challenge for a 3 and 5 year old. So when a travel blog recommended a private tour with Nefi and MYOT I was excited that we would be able to get there. Nefi even provided a car seat for our youngest and drove our family of four to chichen itza. He has studied archeology and was able to provide us with many fascinating facts about the ruins. He was patient with our children and took so many family pictures for us. It made possible what seemed like a difficult day trip for a young family. Experiencia fantástica: We made a last minute reservation and the response and attention were really satisfactory, the tour was the best leaving early from our hotel and thus avoiding the crowds and the high temperatures of noon, when leaving the site we saw that the parking was very full and how complicated it was to find space for the vehicle, the tour was totally personalized and based on my children and their interests, emphasizing their interests, such as the ball game or the point of sacrifices. The food provided at the buffet was excellent, since everyone could take from the local food what they most wanted, the place and atmosphere very clean and pleasant. The price of the tour was a bit above the prices of a tour with 30 or 40 people on the bus, but that difference was well worth it.
