Experiencia fantástica: Did the tour on our first day in CDMX. Could not recommend any higher! Plaqueta was our guide, she knew so much about her city and was an easy and natural guide. Not only a great tour but also has great values and supports the vendors and local community!

Experiencia fantástica: Lorenza was a fantastic tour guide, expertly steering us through busy markets and subways, and finding some real gems that served us excellent food and local delicacies. Highly recommended for the adventurous traveler!

Experiencia fantástica: This experience was fantastic. It was truly a culinary gem of a tour, with countless stops and enough food to fill an entire day. Our tour guide, Plaqueta, was super friendly, funny, and fabulous. We had the best time on this tour learning about local Mexican food and culture. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for an authentic experience!

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I had the most amazing experience with Plaqueta yesterday on the San Rafael and Tacuba tour! She is so incredibly knowledgeable and so much fun. We never could have had the experiences she gave us without this expert guide, and it felt great to support such an important cause.

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best time with Elisa on our food tour of Mexico City. The small groups allowed for an intimate setting to really dig into the culinary and cultural histories of the city. It was the highlight of our time in CDMX; our only regret was not doing it sooner during our stay. 100/10 wish we could do it all over again! A must do!!! (Arrive hungry, you’ll be glad you did!)

Experiencia fantástica: Perhaps my favorite activity I’ve ever done on a trip. Carla was a wonderful tour guide! I will never forget this tour and highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: A fantastic trip through San Rafael and Tacuba, filled not just with amazing food, but with insights into daily life and culture of the neighbourhoods, visits through a couple of churches, a random encounter with a squadron of little girls and boys in their First Communion finery, surrounded by peacocks, the infamous story about how a 1990s concert by the Goth band Bauhaus ended up in an al pastor-triggered near-riot… Just a wonderful and often unexpected experience! The route was not particularly demanding, and all three of us on the tour ended up completely full – and extremely happy. Highly recommended! Bonus points for giving me a whole fistful of suggestions of where I should eat in the next week before I leave Mexico City.

Experiencia fantástica: BEST food tour I’ve ever done - amazing food, drinks, desserts, learnings, and explorations of the city. If you’re thinking about doing a tour, don’t hesitate! Was a highlight of our trip and helped us get our bearings early. Highly recommend doing it as early in your trip as possible and not eating anything before as you will be stuffed with amazing food!

Experiencia fantástica: We did the San Rafael & Tacuba Market tour with Plaqueta, and it was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City. She immediately felt like a friend—warm, funny, and full of great stories (and yes, her tattoos are amazing). The tacos were, of course, incredible, but the real surprise was how much history and cultural insight we got along the way. Plaqueta knew everything! From the design of the Metro system to the legendary Bauhaus show at the Cine Opera. Be warned: it’s a lot of food! I’d recommend splitting a few tacos with a friend or partner. If you’re visiting CDMX, do this tour at the beginning of your trip—it’s the perfect way to get oriented and inspired for the days ahead.

Experiencia fantástica: This food tour was one of the highlights of my trip. It was my first time visiting Mexico City and I wanted to avoid supporting overly gentrified touristy spots. I’m so glad I found this tour. It was a great way to know the city, its history and its amazing culinary heritage. Everything we ate was delicious and truly authentic. My favorite dishes were the mixiote tacos and the green chorizo tacos. I loved talking to the vendors, knowing firsthand the history behind their food and businesses. If you’re traveling solo, it’s also a great activity to do, as you can get to know other travelers as well. My favorite thing about Eat Like a Local is definitely the ethics of their business: it’s female-owned, they support and empower young women from some of the markets we visit, and make sure they are working with local vendors and suppliers that will keep the money in their communities. This is definitely my #1 recommendation for anyone visiting Mexico City, especially if you are traveling for a short time, because you will get to see a lot of the city and experience the best food in half a day. Go with an empty stomach, comfortable walking shoes and a good attitude!

Experiencia fantástica: Our tour with Lorenza today was one of our favorite activities of our trip! We truly got to indulge in and experience local flavors and communities we wouldn’t have known how to find otherwise. The green chorizo tacos, fresh pineapple juice and even the bugs(!) were delicious and memorable. The time passed all too quickly and we were sad to say goodbye. We also loved to meet Wendy, our market guide who is only 18 but incredible at what she does!! We will be back for more next time. Would recommend to anyone!

Experiencia fantástica: 6 girlfriends from Toronto came to celebrate our 60th birthdays. We had the most incredible time with the amazing and energetic Plaqueta! From the moment we met her to the hugs we shared with our full stomachs, every part of the street food tour was outstanding. I cannot recommend the lovely Plaqueta or the fantastic “Eat Like a Local” enough. Muchos gracias!!

Experiencia fantástica: When we came back from CDMX for the first time, and our friends and family asked us, “What were your highlights?”, the Eat like a Local Mexico tour led by Carla is top of the list. What can I say except that we left full, with memories of flavours, textures and stories that we don’t think we could have gotten from anyone else. From booking the experience while home in Canada, to meeting up with Carla and the rest of our group, to taking the subway together and navigating the second largest market in city: the entire tour is very well curated and organized. We felt safe, cared for, and left well fed! Carla made us laugh, introducing us to the taco de canasta that Don Antonio has been making and selling from the same corner for the past 35 years, while also indulging in our questions with curiosity, patience and warmth. As they say on their Instagram, “don’t be an —hole.” Arrive with an open-mind, curiosity, and prepare to discuss whether beetles or cockroaches have more chew, and bring pesos because you’re definitely going to want to bring home a kilo or two of guava, soursop and passionfruit jellies!

Experiencia fantástica: We did the Mexican Food 101 tour and it was such a highlight. Everything was delicious, it was timed/planned perfectly, & we learned a ton. Our guide, Plaqueta, was also so kind & knowledgeable!

Experiencia fantástica: This tour exceeded my expectations. The raving reviews are true! I had the honor of working with Plaqueta today, who was so friendly and outgoing. She was also incredibly smart and shared so much information about Mexico City and the vendors we met. The food was all amazing, there was nothing I didn’t like. I especially loved trying Pulque! I also want to note that this tour does use public transit and from my experience with Plaqueta, I felt comfortable enough to take the subway back to the Central District all by myself! So on top of amazing one-of-a-kind dishes you get to try, you also learn useful skills. Support businesses like Eat Like A Local on your trip to Mexico City because it’s amazing and sustainable.

Kayleigh Johnson 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I had a great time on the tour. We were vegetarian and it was no problem at all, we ate something delicious at every stop. I enjoyed taking public transit and seeing all the different markets. I was full by the end but honestly not stuffed which is good, it was enough food without making you feel sick.

Experiencia fantástica: We did the San Rafael and Tacuba market tour with Gina and it was the hi light of my trip! Gina’s energy and knowledge, the food and the stories…it was all so so special. Especially great to be able to support a woman owned, ethical and sustainable company. Can’t wait to return and join another tour!

Experiencia fantástica: I was initially skeptical at the thought of doing a food tour, but I'm so glad we did. Our guide, Maria, was so fun and she did a great job of navigating us around Mexico City "like a local". Throughout our visit to the markets and the taco stands, she also provided very interesting details about the city, its people, and other places we should go. Following the tour, she even emailed us to follow up on some places we'd asked her to recommend. I'd highly recommend Eat Like a Local and Maria for your Mexico City trip!

Experiencia fantástica: Genuinely one of the best things to do in Mexico, without a doubt. Pawa is a FANTASTIC guide who told us a TON about the history and cultural side of each food stall (Massive MASSIVE shout out to Pawa - she's the coolest). Loved every single stall. Book this tour NOW!

Experiencia fantástica: We had a fantastic time on our Mexican Food 101. We went to street food vendors and market stalls we never would have found (or might have been concerned about food safety) on our own. Eat Like a Local is a great company with solid principles. Plaquetta was our tour guide and she was amazing! So knowledgeable and thoughtful with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend this tour!

Steph Galfano 4 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: My group had the most amazing food tour with Plaqueta. She took us to several (probably a dozen) vendors throughout the streets of Condesa and one of their famous flower & meat markets! We were so full by the end of the tour but very satisfied with the variety of food we tried !

Experiencia fantástica: The Eat Like. Local Tour was the best way to kick off the week in CDMX. Our guide, Plaqueta, made the experience a great one for all of us — she took us to places we would have never seen and encouraged us to try unique and interesting local things, but also did not give the less adventurous folks on our tour a hard time if they didn’t want to try the beetles (yes, I ate beetles and they were delicious!). We visited markets, had a wonderful intro to so much history, had a chance to experience the subway, and had perfect pacing and variety of foods without being wasteful (the philosophy of this all female company is admirable). Plaqueta was an excellent, fun, and energetic guide and made us love this city as much as she does❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Our Eat Like a Local tour with Plaqueta was hands-down the best experience of our Mexico City vacation, taking us through vibrant markets and street vendors for an incredible sampling of authentic Mexican cuisine from basket tacos to a selection of insects. Plaqueta's knowledge and enthusiasm made every bite more meaningful, and by the end we were stuffed beyond belief but had gained a genuine appreciation for Mexico's diverse food culture.

Experiencia fantástica: This food tour is incredible! Our guide Lorenza show us so many cool things and made it so memorable. We took the tour a few months ago and we still think about it - and we keep recommending it to anyone we know heading to CDMX! Thank you so much for the experience! And ALL the tacos

Experiencia fantástica: My 6yo, 11yo and I all agree that this was one of the very best things we did in Mexico. We don’t necessarily agree which stops were the best (for me it was the mixiote and the green sausage), but we do agree that it was amazing!! I loved the delicious variety (ie not ‘just’ tacos) and the true joy that Plaqueta brought to the tour. This was an amazing tour! Highly recommend, highly recommend (we did the 101).

Experiencia fantástica: This was hands down one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Our guide Plaqueta was beyond amazing. The food was so delicious & we all learned so much on the tour. I’m going to dream about this day and this tour. They also have a night tour and the next time I’m in Mexico City we’re doing the night tour. You will LOVE this tour!

Experiencia fantástica: Please do this food tour if you are visiting CDMX, you won’t be disappointed! Lorenza is such a wonderful guide, sharing the obvious love for her city, food, and people. Everything we tried was delicious and it felt like we really got to know the city and what makes it so special.

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend a tour with Eat like a Local whether it is your first time in Mexico City or you've been here many times like myself. I really love market based food tours because you get to sample delicious food while observing an important part of people's routines in Mexico City. With Pawa, we had a great tour guide, who provided us the insider experience of living in Mexico City. The tour included various stops outside of markets, but a few special spots within La Merced and Jamaica Market. I tried several types of tacos I had never had before, including green chorizo and mixiote. Along with the food and the interesting information and banter, I really appreciate that Eat Like a Local who lives out its values as a female run company that partners with vendors. Part of our tour in La Merced was led by the daughter of a family with a two generation stall within La Merced market so she knew her way around expertly and talked about growing up in the culture of the market. Pawa took pictures of us throughout the tour and, at the end, provided the pictures and additional recommendations of places to eat and explore Mexico City. I highly recommend booking this tour! The price includes all of the food, plus a fair wage for the guides and the vendors.

Experiencia fantástica: Book this tour ASAP! I suggest booking it for your first day in town. Really gives you a feel for the city and the food scene + you get to see how the subway system works. Our guide also sent A TON of recommendations after the tour that we were able to check out throughout our time in Mexico City. Be ready to walk and eat a lot! I ate so many things I never would have tried and they were all delicious. Eat Like a Local also does so much good for their community with mentorship programs, etc. You can feel assured the money you spend on this tour is going toward a good cause. Book it!

Experiencia fantástica: GINA was the best tour guide. Delicious local food with the opportunity to learn about the people behind each stand. Organized and thoughtful, would recommend 1000%! Thank you Gina!

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best time with Plaqueta! She was the perfect guide for our group of 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 12-7). We only had time for an evening tour vs the morning one. She was so thoughtful with the food stops w the kids adding in ice cream, churros and the best gorditas we’ve ever had! It was the perfect way to see the city and sample so many different flavors! She gave the kids pins, which motivated them to try things they never would have! It was the highlight of our trip and having Plaqueta as our guide was such a treat!

Experiencia fantástica: This tour exceeded my expectations in all respects. Our guide (Plaqueta) was so warm and outgoing (and with English better than my American English). The other staff were also excellent. They took us to such great places that felt off the beaten track. And everything was delicious! Also my 13-year-old son was given a lot of attention and had a great time. My only complaint is that I ate too much. I recommend skipping breakfast and good pacing

Ted Gullison 6 months ago

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend this food tour! Plaqueta is an excellent guide and full of knowledge not just about the food but also local ancient and recent history of the places that you will visit. The company is not kidding when they say arrive with an empty stomach. You will finish the tour barely able to do up your pants and waddle back to your hotel you will be so full of tacos, deep fried insects, desserts and fruit drinks (a surprising number of which contain mezcal or tequila). If this tour lasted any longer people would literally burst and it would be known as "Death by Taco". The company is socially progressive which is a bonus. At the same time we were getting our food I couldn't help but notice Plaqueta buying food for poor indigenous folks in the market for which they were very appreciative. On the tour there is a fixed set of places to visit but if we saw something not on the tour Plaqueta was more than happy to incorporate it into our day. Plaqueta is also extremely knowledgeable about the city and sent us some of her many lists recommending places to visit. Overall we highly recommend Plaqueta and the Eat Like a Local food tours!

Experiencia fantástica: That was wild! Elisa was a true delight. Nice to support a local business that is helping their community. Food was amazing and the markets are out of this world. We did the Mexican Food 101 Tour and it was phenomenal.

Experiencia fantástica: I did the Mexican Food 101 tour in CDMX, where we had an incredible array of wonderful dishes. The tour was hosted by Plaqueta, who was an outstanding guide! Not only was she super knowledgeable but also genuinely excited to answer our questions and show us her city. Believe them when they say not to have breakfast beforehand under any circumstances as even the hungriest person will have their fill. The organisation also supports women and young people in the city to fulfil their potential which just rounds off a great experience. Thank you Plaqueta!

Experiencia fantástica: Eat Like A Local is a MUST DO if you want to literally eat where the locals go in Mexico City. Instagram is great for the touristy places that are trendy and hip but this tour feels like you’ve got a cool local friend taking you to their favourite local everyday haunts. Plaqueta was my group’s tour guide and she was a ball of energy with a wealth of knowledge. She met us at a local cafe with great coffee to start the day right. When we met, I immediately knew that it would be a great tour because her enthusiasm was infectious. I also found out during the tour that she is passionate about Mexican food and has been creating content on places of where to eat and go in Mexico City for years which made her such a reliable expert. Not only does she introduce the food to you, she also backs it up with interesting facts of history. As a tourist, I would have never been able to find the places that she took us to. They were local food stalls in the hearts of the winding bustling markets or unnoticeable on the sides of the streets and these small businesses have been operating for a very long time rejecting gentrification and carrying on generations of blood, sweat and tears. I was bursting by the time we got to our last stop so I suggest eating a light dinner the night before and prepare to basically only eat one meal the whole day (you are allowed to have multiple pieces of each food sample at the stalls but there are 12-19 really varied courses of food so PACE YOURSELF). You pay a one time fee and all your expenses during the tour are taken care of so you don’t have to worry bothering about the tiny (and sometimes frustrating) things like tipping with cash. It is also important to note that half of the tour is paid online with a card while the other half requires Mexican pesos that you pass to your guide. Apart from being a successful tour, I love the ethos of the business. Eat Like A Local is a women led and run business, and they also support children in a program that encourages them to lead a short portion of the tour to practice their English and they get paid for their efforts too (which in my group’s case, will allow little Carlito to pay for summer camp). I thoroughly enjoyed myself, made some new friends with my tour group (a manageable 8 pax) and got to know Mexico City a little better.

Experiencia fantástica: We had the best time with Carla, doing the daytime tour in CDMX! She made us feel so well-taken care of, explained everything in such great detail and answered all of our questions with enthusiasm and passion! A truly unique way to see parts of the city and try local food you may not on your own. Food tours are a dime a dozen, but this one is unlike any others, because you learn about the good the company is doing for the community and its employees along the way. Had a blast!

Mario Tagle 6 months ago

Margarita Gomez 6 months ago

Experiencia negativa: The degree of entitlement of the owner is absurd, arrogant and self-absorbed. The experiences are like a textbook tourist trap, the cheapest food available in the city at an exorbitant experience price, with a little historical data and social work to mask it all, it's like eat your cheap tacos and be thankful for that.

Eat Like a Local Mexico - Food Tours
Eat Like a Local Mexico - Food Tours

The degree of ignorance of this comment is absurd. A so called influencer approached our guide while working, demanded to film her and crate content, she asked him to contact us on Instagram because she can’t decide this kind of things, and because his ego was hurt he decided to say we discriminate him. And now he made a whole video trying to cancel us saying a bunch of lies. It’s a shame that influencers weponize their “influence” and call their followers to make fake reviews like this one to hurt us just because we didn’t comply to his absurd demands.

Experiencia fantástica: Very happy with the overall experience of our morning food tour with Eat like a local. We were happy to have Maria as our guide and it felt like I was exploring Mexico City with a friend rather than a tour guide. It was also nice that there are not more than 6 people so it feels more personal and like a fun outing. Loved that we were able to experience the delicious food at local vendors and hear their stories. The big markets in Mexico City can be very overwhelming so it was nice to have someone guide us and see the best parts of it. The flower market was one of my favorites.

Experiencia fantástica: We could not recommend Plaqueta and the Mexican Food 101 tour more to anyone looking for an authentic, interesting, and really fun time! We ate so many different kinds of tacos, learned about the history of street food and the origins and preparation of the different kinds of foods we were trying. It was a good amount of walking, but exploring the markets, walking the neighborhoods, and taking the subway was all really easy, and Plaqueta did a great job of keeping us together and navigating the group. We had the good fortune of being able to try the "life changing taco" and it absolutely lived up to the name! The work that the company is doing to support local communities, individuals, and economies is inspiring. We left this tour feeling energized by the food and people of Mexico City, full of knowledge and appreciation for the cuisine, and of course very well fed. Best choice we made on our trip!

Experiencia fantástica: . We did the street food at night tour and it was great. They were not joking when they told us to come hungry. A really cool way to explore Mexico City. Our tour guide, Plaqueta, was super knowledgeable and approachable and made the experience really fun. I also love that this is an ethical, woman owned company that does a lot to give back to the community.

Experiencia fantástica: Had the most incredible food tour with Plaqueta. This is totally worth the cost and was an amazing way to get introduced to all the food and culture CDMX has to offer. Would recommend 10/10 for anyone visiting Mexico City. The mission behind the company made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Experiencia fantástica: I had so much fun doing this tour! Ale was a wonderful tour guide showing us many great things about Mexico City. We tried so many local dishes, there was endless amounts of food! For me, what sets this company apart is the work they do in their Game Changers program (read their website). I will happily pay more to help support their cause and the ladies behind it. Plus the tour was one of my favorite things I did in Mexico! I would highly recommend it to my friends and anyone interested in booking.

Experiencia fantástica: Great way to get a taste of Mexico City! Our guide was enthusiastic and accommodating, ensuring everyone got to try the things they wanted. You will eat a LOT of food. We slowed down toward the end and had trouble finishing everything; not a bad problem to have. Tried some things we definitely wouldn't have tried on our own like Pulque and amazing flour tortillas.

Experiencia fantástica: My parents and I attended this food tour this Winter. Panda was our guide and I cannot say enough good things about her or the tour. The history, and the food, provided in this tour is phenomenal not to mention, the incredible things these women do for their community. I highly recommend this tour be a part of your itinerary. Everything is very well thought out, supporting local, small individual restaurants/food stands, and doesn’t feel touristy at all.

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend the Mexican food 101 - street food and market tour with Clarissa! This tour not only allows you to try a very diverse range of foods and snacks from two markets and around the city but also gives you so much insight into the people’s lives who work within the markets. It was a great learning opportunity on so many levels. From a foodie standpoint the tour really allowed us to try several things we would not have otherwise had the confidence or knowledge to order. We felt like the food was well-paced and didn’t feel too stuffed at the end. I also enjoyed the glimpse into the culture and appreciated the social programs that this tour supports - having Wendy (one of the girls in the program) lead us through the market where her family works was a very unique experience.

Experiencia fantástica: The taco food tour was my favorite activity in Mexico City. Panda our guide was fun, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food and people of Mexico City. We saw markets and ate at restaurants we never would have come across without doing the tour. 10/10 would recommend to anyone coming to Mexico City.

Experiencia fantástica: We had the most incredible experience on the Flower Market and Mezcal Tasting Tour with Plaqueta! From start to finish, Plaqueta was amazing—so engaging, warm, and clearly passionate about her city. Her enthusiasm was infectious, her humor kept us laughing, and her knowledge about CDMX made every part of the tour both fun and enlightening. The food was absolutely unforgettable. We sampled a variety of food and drinks in unique settings, from neighborhood street vendors to market stalls and neighborhood bars. Every bite was amazing, and while we ate, Plaqueta gave us fascinating insights into the history and cultural significance behind the food and cultural traditions. In addition, we had a member of the group who was a vegetarian and Plaqueta made sure they had delicious meat-free options. The tour also took us through the stunning flower market—a part of CDMX I probably wouldn’t have explored on my own. What makes this company stand out is its mission. Being woman-owned and committed to supporting local vendors and children adds such a meaningful layer to the experience. Knowing our tour directly benefited the local community made it even more special. The time flew by because we were having such a great time, and by the end, we all wished it wasn't over! This tour was worth every penny, and I would return to CDMX just to try their other offerings. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate—book a tour with Eat Like A Local. It will definitely be the highlight of your trip! Thank you, Plaqueta and team, for such a memorable day! ✨

Experiencia fantástica: This was such an amazing tour!! Plaqueta was such a fun guide who connected the group and took great care of us. This was one of the highlights of my Mexico City trip. I tried so many different foods and street vendors I wouldn’t have known to go to! It was fun to explore new neighborhoods and take the subway too!

Experiencia fantástica: w had such an incredible time with Plaqueta and our small group during the street food tour. the night was filled with fun and fabulous food. we would have **never** have been able to experience this without an actual local. and lucky us… we got the best!

Experiencia fantástica: We have just got back from our 3 week trip around Mexico and our food tour with Clarissa was definitely one of the highlights! The variety of the food we tried was incredible and Clarissa shared amazing knowledge about each of the foods we tried but also about the vendors, market and culture in Mexico City more broadly. We came away feeling we learnt so much but were also very well fed! I would recommend to everyone to start their trip in Mexico City with this tour. Thanks again Clarissa!

Experiencia fantástica: We just came from the Night Tour with Elisa and it was just incredible - the guide, the spots, the food, the vibe, everything. Big big recommendation for this tour. Highlight of our stay in CDMX :)

Experiencia fantástica: We took this tour on our first day in CDMX. Our guide was Plaqueta, and she was FABULOUS; funny, bright, knowledgable and able to connect with evryone in the group. We walked from the neighbourhood of La Condesa to Roma Norte, sampling street food and drink. We really appreciated Plaqueta's commentary, stories and recommendations. We were absolutely stuffed by the end of the tour, believe it when they tell you to come hungry. Be prepared to walk slowly for a long time, winding through streets and markets as you sampled. Absolutely recommend this female owned company that is striving to create a sustainable tourism industry in Mexico.

Experiencia fantástica: This was more than a food tour. We learned about Mexican culture and history. We met, Rocio, the owener of the company and she is a dynamic woman. We began the tour so invigorated! Lorencia was our tour guide and she is fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. The food was excellent. It varied in ingredients and textures. We had various types of tacos, desserts, fruits, insects, corn, candy, and the best tapache in the city. It really was a party for the pallet. We were visually and tactaly engaged. We also ate our fill, at times going for seconds. We highly recommend this tour and would do it again. They also offer a night food tour and hope to take it the next time we are in Mexico City. Thank you Eat Like a Local for an amazing day.

Experiencia fantástica: we did this tour on the first day of my second trip to mexico city. if you are looking to support small women owned & operated businesses, eat amazing food, and explore amazing areas outside of roma, condessa, & polanco then this is certainly the tour for you. we were with clarissa and she was 10/10. SO knowledgeable and SO passionate about the city she hails from. we could not be happier. i will recommend this to everyone who brings up mexico city to me for the rest of my days. cheers!

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing food tour of mexico city. We got an authentic experience either many stops off the beaten path. Lorenza was an excellent tour guide. Cannot recommend this tour enough for folks visiting CDMX.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a great tour with Plaqueta on our first full day in CDMX. We loved the food at every stop and enjoyed traveling around the city via public transportation. We got to enjoy food, transit, great people around the city and a fountain of city knowledge provided by Plaqueta. I can't recommend this tour at the beginning of your trip enough, you will feel more knowledgeable when navigating on your own. 10/10 on everything!

Experiencia fantástica: This tour was a perfect combination of fun and informative. We got to leave the bubble of Condesa/Roma (eating along the route) headed to Jamaica market where we tried so many foods and were shown around by a cool kid too. Clarissa the guide was a talented and knowledgeable host and her passion is very clear. They are an ethical company, giving back to local women vendors to help them achieve. I learned not only about food but about life in CDMX, would recommend to anyone who is adventurous and willing to leave the gentrified areas of CDMX (it still felt safe, by the way) Would recommend to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: We really had a great time experiencing Mexico City through the eyes of people who are clearly food-obsessed in the best possible way. Their passion for local flavors, hidden gems, and the stories behind every bite made this an unforgettable adventure. What stood out even more was how kind, warm, and welcoming they were. It felt less like a guided experience and more like being shown around by friends who genuinely wanted us to fall in love with the city and its culinary treasures. We definitely recommend this to anyone who loves food, culture, and connecting with locals in a meaningful way. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or visiting Mexico City for the first time, this is an experience that will leave you inspired and very, very full!

Experiencia fantástica: We had the most amazing time with Plaquetta, who was our host. We ate almost until death and we enjoyed every stop on the way. During the tour she also talked history and culture to us which we really appreciated since it was our first time in Mexico City. Highly recommended to everyone who wishes to dive into the local culinary culture and experience the hidden spots. Also, after the tour we also received amazing tips for the rest of our stay in Mexico City.

Experiencia fantástica: This is an absolute must if you are visiting and would like to sample all kinds of authentic food! It was all delicious and was great to go with a guide to the markets, as tourists we would have had no idea where to start or what to look for! We had Ale as our guide and she was absolutely brilliant, so knowledgeable about everything on the tour and had really good recommendations for the rest of our trip. The company also have a really good social angle too as they run a sponsorship programme for teens from less privelaged backgrounds to learn English and give them more options for their future. One of the teens took us around one of the markets and she was great, you could tell it was a really good chance for her to practice English! You absolutely must do a tour if you are visiting, but turn up hungry - we had to have a nap afterwards. Big shout out to Ale - ¡muchas gracias!

Experiencia fantástica: We were a group of 5 visiting CDMX and loved spending the morning with Plaqueta. A perfect tour and accommodated the vegetarians in our group really well. It took us through markets and to street stalls we otherwise would have never found. Our guide was warm, friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable! 10/10 recommend

Experiencia fantástica: Plaqueta was an amazing guide. She had a ton of information and history for everywhere we went. All of the food was incredible and she had great recommendations for more adventurous options at some of the stalls. Carlitos did a great job too, the candy tasting was a ton of fun. There was an amazing selection of food on the tour, we got to check off so many boxes in one day. I will definitely do one of the other tours next time I'm in town.

Experiencia fantástica: We took the Mexican Food 101 tour on our first full day in the city and it was incredible. Our tour guide Carla was so knowledgeable and took such good care of us! The food was amazing and it was so fun to dive into the city this way! 11/10 recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: We had the most amazing day with Fer (and Fer) on our tour this week. We went to places and tried food truly off the beaten track. The tour is great because not only do you get to try amazing food you otherwise wouldn’t, it also supports the local community. We met Carlitos who is a real gem and icon of the tour! 100% recommend including this trip as part of your itinerary in CDMX.

Experiencia fantástica: Such a great tour - our guide Lorenza was really knowledgeable and had loads of facts about the city, the history, the markets, and the food was incredible. You get a lot of food, so will definitely not walk away hungry. We discovered a lot of things and places that you probably wouldn’t find otherwise as a tourist.. Also a great way to support the locals and the community!

Experiencia fantástica: If you are visiting Mexico City and looking for a way to explore local neighborhoods, try lots of local food and drinks with a great local guide, this tour is for you! It was an amazing experience and our entire group of 7 people loved wandering around the streets of CDMX and living like a local! Thank you!! A+

Experiencia fantástica: One of the best things I did during my time in CDMX! My partner and I ended up in a tour group led by Ale. She was knowledgeable, funny, witty, and truly a local. I lost track of how many stops we had, but the food was fantastic, and we were definitely exposed to foods we would have easily overlooked on any given day. We went during Dia de Muertos season, so it was a treat that part of the tour was extended to include the cempasuchil section in Mercado Jamaica. Ale went the extra mile and got each couple their own picture with a large bushel of flowers. I think my favorite part aside from the food was watching Ale interact with the food vendors. You can tell that 1) they adore the tour guides and 2) they're appreciative that this tour program brings traffic and exposure to their businesses. It was very rewarding seeing a symbiotic relationship being nurtured in real time. Must do!

Experiencia fantástica: This is a fantastic tour and Plaqueta is an AMAZING tour guide with so much energy and knowledge about the city. We had a lot of fun and they were able to accommodate me as a pescatarian. It is a LOT of food so don’t worry about leaving hungry. You will also get your steps in. Highly recommend as a starting point to the city. They provide so many detailed maps and recommendations to you afterwards, you will be set! And they take tons of pics of you during and send them afterwards. The young people they have helped to sponsor and the way this empowers women and pays benefits and living wages to people is an added plus. Really happy to support this company and will attend more of their tours in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a FANTASTIC time on our tour with Lorenza and Carlos! Everything we got to taste was delicious and it was great having a guide to help us pick out what to try and to navigate the city. I highly recommend doing a food tour to anyone early in their trip as it helps you get the lay of the land and figure out what you want to come back to later on. Lorenza introduced us to a ton of great food vendors that we were able to visit again later on our trip! This company also has a very responsible approach to tourism and prioritizes supporting their community and vendors sustainably, which I really appreciated.

Experiencia fantástica: We did the food tour and Flower market tour with Gina and it was the highlight of our trip. Gina was fantastic! She gave us a lot of cultural details and shared her love of the city with us. It was like walking around and eating with an old friend, she was lovely, warm, and entertaining from the moment we met her. The street food was fantastic and something we wouldn’t have tried as vegetarians, but she made it super accessible while also introducing us to vendors who have been doing their thing for decades. The Jamaica flower market was fantastic, if you go, ask to meet Gloria who has been selling flowers at her family stall for 77 years. At the end Gina gave us recommendations for other spots and followed up with us later that night and the next day. This tour felt super authentic and just an all around great experience. I would totally recommend!

As someone who loves food tours and makes a point to do them in every city or country I visit, the Mexico City Food Tour with Plaqueta was by far the most exceptional experience. While the tour description provides a list of foods you'll try, the real magic lies in where you eat them. Plaqueta, a proud Chilanga (local to Mexico City), truly knows her city inside and out. She guided us to the most unique, well-established food vendors in areas that only a local could expertly navigate. The variety of food was incredible, offering a range of flavors from sweet to savory, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. What really made the tour stand out, though, was Plaqueta herself. Her energy was infectious, and her warm interactions with the local vendors made it clear she’s a beloved figure in the community. It added an extra layer of authenticity and charm to an already fantastic experience. If you're looking for an unforgettable food adventure in Mexico City, this tour is a must!

Experiencia fantástica: This was a wonderful tour that we have been recommending to everyone we know who is planning on visiting Mexico City! We went on our first day, which was a great way to start the visit - especially with our guide Plaqueta who was able to give us tons of other recommendations and answer questions about things we were considering for the rest of the trip. Great food, small group sizes, wonderful guide, couldn't recommend more!

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely LOVED our food tour! Our tour guide, Ale, was so friendly and energetic and really showed us why she loves CDMX. The tour was really well laid out, and we were definitely not hungry at the end! I really appreciated getting to see La Merced and Jamaica with a guide, as these places can seem overwhelming otherwise! Would love to return to CDMX and do another tour with this company. Especially love their mission and commitment to empowering women as well.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the most amazing food tour in Mexico! The flavors were incredible, and every stop was both delicious and fascinating. The atmosphere throughout the tour was just perfect, and I left feeling satisfied without ever going hungry. The small group setting made it even more enjoyable, and the fact that everything was included made it seamless and stress-free. Absolutely perfect and highly recommended!

Experiencia fantástica: We had an amazing day with Plaqueta and experienced so many great dishes and markets. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. For vegetarians, there are many great recommendations by your guide. We loved all of Plaqueta’s recommendation. It was nice to experience the city with a local person who was born in this great city. Her passion for the history and culture of CDMX truly enhanced this experience and made it memorable. We don’t do many tours but I would highly recommend this incredible tour that is a small business that is owned and operated by women. One of the highlights for me was eating some fish tacos that are not normally part of the tour but since one of the vendors was unavailable Plaqueta was flexible and found a great alternative. If you are looking for an enjoyable and enriching travel experience this is the group for you.

Experiencia fantástica: This was our second food tour with Eat Like a Local Mexico and it was as fantastic as our first. The tour was focused on the Condesa and the Mercado de Jamaica. Plaqueta, our tour guide, was friendly, knowledgeable, charismatic, and informative. The stops on the tour were all delicious and different. This is a great way to explore less touristy areas of Mexico as well as an opportunity to eat some delicious street food. Their mission to improve the lives of women in the city, is laudable. We will definitely take another tour with them in the future.
